Bye, Bye Sweet 16

I’m probably getting this message to you late. The Sweet 16 is a  brief cognitive assessment tool that was very similar to the brief Mini Mental Status Examinations (MMSE) and was free and open access until recently on the Hospital Elder Life Program web site. The most recent post is at shortlink http://wp.me/p1glcu-Ru. Anyhow, the Sweet 16 will no longer be available at the HELP site because Psychological Assessment Resources (PAR), Inc.  demanded it be removed. This was probably a copyright infringement issue. You can read the news (for now, the message will likely be removed shortly) at http://hospitalelderlifeprogram.org/private/sweet16-disclaimer.php?pageid=01.09.00.

I still think the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) is the best brief cognitive test. It is well-validated and is free and open access for clinical use at http://www.mocatest.org/.
