Standing vs Sitting: Here We Go Again

Here we go again with another post about standing versus sitting at work. OK, I’m on vacation and I need to be careful about just sitting around because it’s bad for my back. That reminds me of Psych Practice blogger’s recent post about it in which the notion that long periods of sitting can be bad for your health, such as when psychiatrists are staffing outpatient psychiatry clinics.

I can’t find a decent chair either, and, as I recall, the last time I posted about this, I talked about standing stations.

There was a problem with the particular model I was considering back then, but if I’m going to continue to be the paladin I need to be on the inpatient psychiatry consultation service, I need to keep thinking about ways to keep my back healthy. Which brings up a new product:

You can understand why the company, VariDesk, quickly favorited my Tweet and replied:

Of course I know why they did that!

The Washington Post story even mentioned that you could add a treadmill under a standing desk. You know, there are a lot of YouTube videos out there about so-called “hilarious” treadmill mishaps.

You’ll be happy to know I’m not going to inflict those on you.
