I just got word from Dr. Paul Thisayakorn, who previously graduated from our residency program, that he has now graduated from the year-long and very rigorous Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic on June 15, 2015. Paul plans to return to his native Thailand to continue his career by working in a private hospital in Bangkok for a few years doing general and psycho-oncology psychiatric consultation before returning to pursue his dream career in academic psychiatry.

Paul reminds me of so much. Just before he left for Cleveland, he gave me one of my most treasured gifts–a necktie with images of white elephants printed on it, historically symbolic in Thailand of royal power or great virtue.

He recalled that it was five years ago when we first met on our medical-psychiatry unit and talked of his interest in consultation (CL) psychiatry.

Thank you, Paul, for allowing me to be your first CL mentor. Good luck to you and your beautiful family!
